Create a QR Code for Your WiFi Password
Sharing WiFi passwords verbally or writing them on sticky notes is inconvenient and insecure. A WiFi QR code lets guests connect to your network by simply scanning a code — the phone automatically enters the credentials and connects. This works for homes, offices, Airbnb rentals, cafes, and hotel rooms.
How WiFi QR Codes Work
A WiFi QR code encodes your network name (SSID), password, and security type in a standardized format. When a smartphone scans this code, the operating system recognizes the WiFi data and offers to connect to the network automatically. This works on iOS 11+ and Android 10+ without any additional apps.
Creating Your WiFi QR Code
Open the WiFi QR Code Generator and enter three pieces of information: your network SSID (exactly as shown on your devices — it's case-sensitive), your WiFi password, and the security type (WPA/WPA2 for most modern routers). Generate and download the QR code.
Where to Display It
For homes: place it on the fridge or near the front door. For Airbnb: include it in the welcome guide and place a printed copy in the main living area. For offices: display it in meeting rooms and common areas. For cafes: place it on tables or near the counter.
Security Considerations
Anyone who can see the QR code can extract the WiFi password. For guest networks, this is acceptable. For private networks, place the QR code where only authorized users can access it. Consider creating a separate guest WiFi network with its own QR code. If you change your password, regenerate and reprint the QR code.
